Christmas Rose

"Christmas Rose," a 2022 collage by Elspeth Lamb, depicts a single large hellebore bloom in purple-grey tones with a pale stamened center, connected by a curving stem to a lobed leaf and budding shoots below. The left portion of the composition is filled with a marbled pattern of coral-red, lavender, and cream, while the right side is left as plain pale ground. The flower and foliage are rendered in fine linear outline over flat washes of muted violet, grey, and coral.
