Flower Phrenology

A single stemmed flower dominates the composition, its large drooping head rendered in a bold yellow-and-magenta tiger-stripe pattern above a cluster of glossy black rounded forms and softer grey lobed shapes; a small red bird-like silhouette floats at lower left and a spiky pink star form sits at lower right, above a pale turquoise wood-grain band. The white ground is overlaid with loose splatters and washes of red, yellow, and lilac, giving the piece a chaotic, collaged energy against the more controlled linear stem and leaf drawing.
