Serpent

*Serpent*, a 2024 lithograph by Elspeth Lamb, depicts a cluster of dark, bulbous seed-pod or fruit-like forms in black and reddish-brown clustered along a pale grey stem, topped by a large blue-black leaf-like form with a scalloped, spiny edge. A slender orange, wing- or flame-shaped element with a coiled dark loop sits in the lower right, set against loose green and pink watercolor-like washes and scattered small circular marks on a cream ground. The overall palette combines fine black linework with translucent yellow, pink, green, and blue washes on an off-white background.
