Description
Part of Fujita's sustained engagement with the historic canal district of Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, this print likely depicts the white-walled kura (storehouses) and willow-lined waterway that define the Bikan historical quarter. Fujita reduces the architectural forms to planar geometries, using restrained mokuhanga techniques to render the bleached plaster walls against still water. Subtle [bokashi](/glossary/bokashi) gradations may suggest overcast light typical of the Seto Inland Sea region. The alphanumeric designation indicates this is one print within a numbered series, suggesting Fujita returned to the same subject across multiple variants exploring tonal and compositional difference.
