Description

A pale, ridged shell rests at the upper left against a turquoise ground, beside a round pale-yellow sun or disc in the upper right. Below, dark green foliage with pink five-petaled flowers spreads across the lower portion, punctuated by a black spiky form (a sea urchin) at center. Flat areas of turquoise, white, black, pink, and yellow-green give the composition a bold, graphic quality. Woodblock print, "Shell," by Fumio Kitaoka; year unknown.
