Key value factors: As self-carved and self-printed works, sosaku-hanga value is tied to the artist's reputation and edition size. Larger formats, earlier editions, and historically significant works command the highest prices.
A woodblock print capturing Dotonbori, the famous entertainment district along the canal in Osaka that has served as the city's theatrical and culinary heart since the seventeenth century. The area's dense concentration of theaters, restaurants, and illuminated signage made it one of the most visually dynamic streetscapes in Japan. Nakazawa depicts the canal-side architecture and the bustling energy of this commercial quarter, translating the electric atmosphere into the layered color vocabulary of woodblock printing. Dotonbori offered a distinctly Osaka subject, setting Nakazawa's work apart from the Kyoto and Tokyo views that dominated the shin-hanga landscape genre.
