Description

A diagonal line splits the composition, separating a dark, uniform upper-left field from a lower-right band of streaked, wind-blown looking tonal gradients running from white to grey to black. A horizontal row of small, elongated bright-white light flares crosses the middle distance just above the diagonal, fading from a solid glowing bar on the left into a scattered line of dashes toward the center. Rendered entirely in black, white, and grey, the abstract, high-contrast image has a nocturnal, blurred quality; Heliography, a 1978 gelatin silver print by Hiroshi Yamazaki.
