Description
This abstract, non-figurative woodblock print centers a tall, vertical pod- or cocoon-like form running from top to bottom of the composition, its surface covered in dense clusters of small round pitted marks in turquoise, teal, and grey against a rusty orange-brown ground. The surrounding field is a heavily textured burnt-sienna and ochre surface crossed by thin, jagged black and yellow lines suggesting cracks or fissures, giving the whole sheet a weathered, mineral or organic surface quality. The palette is dominated by warm rust and gold tones set against the cooler blue-green of the central form, and the print is signed "Creation," numbered 50/36, and dated '70 in pencil beneath the image.
