Description
"Old Memories D," dated 1966, continues Tajima's serial investigation of memory as abstract subject, here the "D" variant suggesting this is a late entry in an extended series of related compositions. The degraded, layered surface characteristic of Tajima's mature work functions as a visual analog to the imperfect, time-altered nature of old memories — present but changed, meaningful but no longer entirely legible. Warm, faded tones are likely overlaid with darker, later marks.
