Description
A second interpretation of the ameagari theme, this abstract woodblock print departs from its companion in color palette or compositional structure while addressing the same post-rainfall atmosphere. Rome's iterative practice of returning to a single subject across multiple print editions — common in the mokuhanga tradition — allows him to explore how different carving approaches, pigment combinations, or paper preparations alter the emotional register of the same concept. The material character of the woodblock process itself, including the grain of the carved block visible in the printed surface, contributes textural resonance to this meditation on light and moisture after rain.
