Macla

Against a solid black ground, three vertical clusters of fine white parallel lines stand like combed fiber or grass: a wide rectangular block at left, a narrower wavering strip that overlaps its right edge, and a slim separate band at right. The lines vary slightly in length and curve unevenly at top and bottom, giving each cluster a frayed, brush-like edge rather than a hard geometric border. *Macla*, by Juan Escudero, 2020, pigmented ink on acrylic base on Arches paper.
