Sismógrafo

Sismógrafo (2018) by Juan Escudero is a square composition of dense, undulating white and pale grey lines set against a solid black ground, arranged in tightly packed horizontal bands that thin, cross, and cluster like interference patterns. The linework fills a central square panel bordered by an even black margin, with no figures, text, or landscape elements present — only the field of wavy strokes. Rendered in pigmented ink on an acrylic base on Fabiano paper, the palette is strictly monochrome, built entirely from the contrast between the black surface and the fine white tracery.
