Description
A third version of the Benkeibashi subject, this print extends Sekino's sustained engagement with the Sapporo bridge across multiple editions. Where successive versions diverge in season or time of day, the shift in light would register primarily as a change in the dominant color block — pale winter blue against snow versus green summer foliage against warm stone. Sekino's approach to architectural subjects typically preserves the structural contours of the key block across versions while varying the color layers, giving each print a distinct atmospheric register while maintaining compositional continuity. Printed on washi from hand-carved blocks, this version — like the others — reflects the sosaku-hanga insistence that each impression is the artist's own work from inception to final state.
