The station of Okabe in Shizuoka Prefecture, at the base of the Utsunoya Pass, appears in this Tokaido series print. Okabe was a quiet station defined by its proximity to the pass's demanding climb and descent, its teahouses and inns serving travelers who needed to gather energy before or after the mountain section. The settlement's modest scale reflected its function as a waypoint rather than a destination.
