Description
Distillation (2018) by Karen Kunc is a large abstract woodcut with etching, pochoir, and watercolor, divided into two panels. The left panel shows a curving white and blue arc against a cloud-dotted sky, with a black polygonal net, thin radiating lines, a small yellow star, and a pink/orange oval form set over horizontal bands of blue, tan, and rust; the right panel is dominated by a solid dark blue oval floating above a dense crosshatched grid of black lines over a striped orange, cream, and blue ground. The overall palette is earthy and warm (rust, ochre, tan) set against cool blues, rendered in a geometric, non-representational style with no human figures.
