The "PP 3/3" notation indicates a Printer's Proof, third of three, pulled alongside the main numbered edition. Printer's Proofs are typically reserved for the print workshop and are aesthetically identical to the editioned impressions, sharing the same screens and registration. The "×3" in the title points to a tripled or repeated motif — the use of multiplication and serial iteration runs through KAWS's print practice and draws on the repetition strategies of Pop Art predecessors. By 2011, KAWS had transitioned from his late-1990s street-art interventions on bus-shelter advertisements into a sustained gallery and editions practice, working with publishers including Pace Prints. The visual vocabulary of his prints from this period — flat hard-edged color zones, crisp screen registration, and the recurring X-eyed Companion figure — was already commanding sustained demand in Japan, where his earlier collaborations with Bounty Hunter, Medicom, and Original Fake had built a substantial collector base.
