Urge (7) is the seventh print from KAWS's 2020 URGE portfolio. Each plate in the series isolates a different framing of the figure — face in hands, head tilted, seated profile — and number 7 contributes one of these alternative views to the cumulative portrait of distressed or contemplative postures. The screenprinting builds the figure's surface through flat color layers in crisp registration rather than through gradient or modeling, with the contours articulated by precise edges between adjacent color zones. The URGE series has been read alongside KAWS's monumental Holiday inflatable installations of the same period — staged in Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, and at the foot of Mt. Fuji — as parallel explorations of how a recurring character can carry emotional weight when scaled up into public sculpture or pared down into the intimacy of a printed sheet of editioned paper.
