Crimson

Titled "Crimson," this print builds its atmosphere around a single saturated color — the deep red that in Japan carries associations of passion, vitality, and the peak moments of a woman's life. Whether the crimson belongs to a kimono, obi, or atmospheric background, it dominates the composition and gives the figure (or subject) an intensity that Takasawa's more subdued works reserve for subtler effects. The color itself becomes the emotional statement.
