Description
ASANO UMI B — Ocean in Morning B — the second version of the morning ocean subject, exploring the early-hours sea from a different compositional vantage than the first ASANOUMI composition. Kimura's morning ocean subjects are among his most atmospheric, the sea before sunrise carrying a particular quality of soft, grey light and still water that differed completely from the vivid, intense blue of the summer midday or the dramatic red and orange of the evening. This version finds a different approach to the same quiet subject.
