Description
A horse running in the wind — its mane and tail streaming behind it, its body extended in full gallop. The running horse was one of the great subjects of East Asian painting, associated with speed, freedom, and untamed natural power. Kimura's contemporary woodblock treatment renders the horse through bold, graphic line that captures the essence of motion — the extended legs, the streaming mane, the weight of the massive body borne forward by its own momentum. The wind that drives the horse completes the composition.
