Description
A spring wind composition — the sensation of spring air depicted through Kimura's contemporary woodblock language of movement, the wind made visible through the forms it sets in motion or the atmospheric quality it creates. Spring wind in Japanese aesthetics was associated with the dispersal of cherry blossom petals and the particular freshness of warm air arriving after winter's cold, a sensory experience that the Japanese poetic tradition encoded in the kigo (season word) "haru no kaze." Kimura translates this into graphic form.
