Description
SUIMEN B — Water Surface B — a second composition depicting the surface of water, the most reflective of natural phenomena. Water surfaces in Kimura's work served as both subject and ground, the reflective plane creating a doubled world in which sky and objects appear inverted. This "B" version of the water surface subject approaches the theme from a different compositional angle than the first version, perhaps emphasizing a different quality of light, weather, or the specific character of a particular body of water.
