Description
"Rain Night" is a ukiyo-e landscape print by Kitagawa Utamaro, created during the Edo period. The rain scene showcases Kitagawa Utamaro's ability to capture weather as both visual phenomenon and emotional atmosphere. The diagonal lines of rainfall, a signature element of Japanese landscape printing since Hiroshige, create rhythm and movement across the composition while the muted palette evokes the contemplative mood of a rainy day.
