Description
A second composition under the title "Fine Rain" (糸雨, itosame) — thread rain, the finest possible precipitation, barely distinguishable from mist at certain distances. Nakajima Kiyoshi returns to this delicate meteorological phenomenon for a second composition, exploring what is perhaps a different seasonal context or compositional approach to the same subject. The thread rain's quality of extreme lightness — its refusal to be heavy, its preference for suggestion over statement — aligns perfectly with the atmospheric delicacy that characterizes Nakajima's best work. Even his figures seem to be made of light: they inhabit their atmospheric environments rather than imposing on them.
