Description

A single woman is shown in profile against a pale grey ground crossed by diagonal white lines representing falling rain, her dark hair blown sideways by the wind. She wears a deep blue robe over a green under-layer and a dark floral-patterned garment below, and holds a small blue-flowered sprig between the fingers of her raised right hand while a flower ornament sits in her hair. The composition is asymmetrical, with the figure pushed to the right of the frame and a wide expanse of empty rain-streaked ground to the left; a red seal and columns of Japanese text appear at the right edge. This woodblock print by Nakajima Kiyoshi is untitled and undated.
