Satta Ridge — the dramatic coastal promontory on the Suruga Bay coast between Yui and Okitsu where the old Tōkaidō road clung to sheer cliffs above the sea — is depicted in this 1896 nishiki-e from the Famous Sights of Japan series. The site, with Mount Fuji visible across the bay, was among the most celebrated viewpoints on the Tōkaidō route and a familiar subject in landscape series from Hiroshige onward. Kiyochika's version emphasises the vertical drama of the cliff face against the open sea and mountain horizon.
