Mt. Rokko

Mount Rokko — the range of mountains overlooking Kobe and Osaka from the north — offers Kotozuka a landscape subject outside his usual Kyoto and Nara focus. The Rokko range, rising to over 900 meters above the coastal plain, provides a dramatic backdrop to the Kobe cityscape and offers views that extend across the Inland Sea. Kotozuka's print captures the mountain's presence in the landscape of the Hanshin region, using his characteristic woodblock technique to render its atmospheric mass.
