Laughing with the Wind

*Laughing with the Wind* (2014) is an abstract woodblock print by Mana Aki composed of two rounded, irregular shapes stacked vertically against a soft grey-beige paper ground: an upper form outlined in dark grey with a pale, lightly textured interior, and a lower form fully filled in a darker taupe-grey tone. A jagged wedge of solid dark green cuts across the lower right corner, the only strong color accent in an otherwise muted, neutral palette. The composition is spare and quiet, with visible pencil numbering (11/40), Japanese characters, and the artist's signature in the lower margin.
