Description
*Prayer* (2019), Masahiko Minami, charcoal and graphite. A single dark conifer, rendered in dense, textured black-brown strokes, rises from the bottom edge of the composition against a pale, softly streaked ground; the top two-thirds of the sheet are left nearly empty, marked only by faint vertical striations suggesting rain or mist. The palette is limited to grey, black, and warm off-white, and the asymmetrical placement of the tree low in the frame creates a quiet, spare mood.
