Description

A tall, narrow vertical sculpture in bright yellow dominates the frame, its surface covered in a dense pattern of horizontal ridges and folds running its full height. It stands on a rectangular brushed metal base, photographed in a white gallery space with a pale wood floor; blurred in the background are two small blue rectangular blocks stacked vertically, a red vertical block, and a yellow block, all mounted on the walls. The work, Masayuki Tsubota's *The Core of Self* (2019), is made of gesso, pigment, and acrylic on basswood, with tin foil.
