Description
A tall, narrow rectangular column stands on a rectangular pedestal, its four faces covered edge to edge in dense, fine vertical ridges in a muted sage green, with the ridged surface folding unevenly over the flat top edge. The pedestal is a smooth, pale gray-white block with faint diagonal veining and a slight metallic sheen, photographed against a plain light gray studio background. Titled "The Core of Self_tvlsctf1," this 2023 work by Masayuki Tsubota is made of gesso and powdered mineral pigments over basswood, with a tin foil base.
