Description
Five horizontal rows of tightly pleated, ridge-like material form a compact, roughly square panel, alternating bands of coral-orange and deep maroon-red, mounted on a plain white wall. Strong directional lighting casts sharp diagonal shadows beneath each ridged row and along the panel's right edge, giving the surface pronounced texture and depth. Titled "the core of self_vscy5," the work is by Masayuki Tsubota, 2015, made of gesso, pigment, and acrylic on basswood with tin foil.
