Description
The layer of self_vym1 (2015) by Masayuki Tsubota is a rectangular wall-mounted relief built from dozens of tightly spaced, uniform vertical ridges, rendered in a solid matte red across gesso, pigment, acrylic, and tin foil on basswood. Mounted against a plain white wall, the repeating pleated surface casts sharp, evenly spaced triangular shadows below and to its right. The composition is symmetrical and evenly lit, with no additional imagery, text, or figures present.
