Installation View, 3rd PATinKyoto Print Art Triennale

The 3rd PATinKyoto Print Art Triennale, held in 2022, is one of Kyoto's surveys of contemporary print practice. This entry documents an installation rather than a single sheet: Matsumoto's lithographs on aluminum hung as a coordinated grouping that lets the news-derived source material of separate prints be read across the room. Presenting prints as a sequence rather than as discrete objects mirrors the broadsheet logic she draws on — early Meiji shinbun nishiki-e were consumed in succession as events unfolded, not in isolation. The triennale also situates her work within Kyoto's ongoing printmaking scene, the same milieu in which she completed her Kyoto Seika University BFA in 2015 and her Kyoto City University of Arts graduate degree in 2018.
