Basic Room -Ichimatsu-

A woodblock print depicting the interior of a traditional Japanese room, rendered in a geometric, angular style with no human figures present. Sliding doors and wall panels display a bold blue-and-white checkerboard (ichimatsu) pattern alongside solid panels of green, yellow, and grey, set within dark maroon wooden framing and beams; the floor is covered in ochre-yellow tatami mats. Nana Shiomi's 2013 woodblock print "Basic Room -Ichimatsu-" uses flattened perspective and sharp diagonal lines to construct the empty, sunlit room.
