Description

A single crouching figure fills the composition in bold black-and-white woodcut lines, its wild, shaggy mane rendered in thick striped strokes and its face reduced to a round, wide-eyed mask-like visage. The body is built from angular black planes broken by triangular and diamond hatching patterns, with one clawed hand raised near the chest; a light, textured washi paper ground shows through as the white ripple and lattice patterns throughout. The print is signed and titled in pencil at lower right, alongside a red seal, on cream handmade paper — consistent with Naoko Matsubara's 2014 woodcut "Shojo."
