"Distant Landscape" (2020) is printed on BFK Rives, a mould-made cotton sheet receptive to both pigment-based inkjet and screen-printed inks. The hybrid technique pairs a digital photographic substrate—likely a wide-field view of a cityscape or horizon—with overlaid silkscreen passes that introduce particulate textures, surface noise, and tonal interference. The title signals a deliberate visual remove: a scene observed from a vantage where atmospheric haze and screen-printed grit collapse foreground and background into a unified plane. The image registers as photographic at first glance, then resolves into a constructed surface in which printed marks—droplet patterns, dust, abraded passages—sit on top of, rather than within, the depicted space. This dialectic between recorded image and printed mark is central to Nomura's practice, developed in Kyushu through her Fukuoka and Oita exhibitions and recognized in the 4th PATinKyoto Print Art Triennale 2025. The work belongs to her ongoing investigation of how layered surfaces alter the legibility of photographic landscape.
