Key value factors: For living or recently deceased artists, limited edition size and gallery representation drive value. Signed and numbered prints from smaller editions are most desirable.
A dynamic composition by Mayumi Oda — the word "chase" implying movement, pursuit, or the energetic engagement of figures in motion. Whether depicting goddesses in playful pursuit of each other, figures chasing across a natural landscape, or the more abstract chase of an idea or an image, Oda's compositions in this mode trade the meditative stillness of her Kanzeon subjects for a quality of kinetic energy and exuberant physical action. Her training at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and her subsequent immersion in the Pratt Graphic Center's printmaking program gave her the technical resources to render movement in the static woodblock medium with remarkable vivacity.
