Description
A single robed figure sits cross-legged on the back of a large dark sea turtle, wearing a pale green outer robe over red and indigo inner garments and a white patterned undergarment, with a small black cap and a thin fishing rod or pole held in one hand. The turtle swims through pale blue water rendered with dark outlined scales and clawed feet, while above them swirling grey and tan linework suggests currents or clouds sweeping toward a faint architectural structure in the upper left. The palette is soft and muted — powder blue, cream, sage green, and touches of red and indigo — giving the scene a calm, drifting quality; red seal and text cartouches appear in the upper right.
