Description
The title pairs the verb meguru — to circle, to make the rounds, to return — with tsuki, the moon, naming a subject of cyclical lunar motion rather than a single moonlit moment. As a 2013 single-plate viscosity intaglio, the print would have been pulled from one matrix combining aquatint tonal fields for the night ground, etched or drypoint marks for graphic incident, and surface rolls of contrasting viscosity so that the moon and its surround are carried in one press run rather than registered across multiple plates. Ogawa's nocturnal work from this year — including Yoru to Yoru wo Tsunagu and Sono Mukou — shares a vocabulary of low-light layering, and Meguru Tsuki names the moon directly where its companions name only thresholds and the bridge between nights. The "circling" of the title is read in chromatic and tonal cycles rather than in pictorial illustration: the layered viscosity surface, woven in a single pull, is itself a record of return.
