Executed as a horizontal silkscreen measuring 59 × 80 cm, this 2023 work depicts the planted grounds at the rear of a hotel — an interstitial, semi-private landscape rather than a manicured front garden or open nature. The bilingual title (常夏の庭はホテルのbackyardで) splices Japanese and English mid-phrase, signalling an interest in the layered vocabulary of contemporary Tokyo rather than the classical meisho-e tradition of named scenic places. Silkscreen as a medium favors flat, saturated color fields built through successive screen passes with tight registration; the horizontal format suits broad bands of garden foliage, paving, and architectural edges, and departs from the woodblock-and-baren technical lineage that defines most historic hanga. The 'everlasting summer' framing (常夏, tokonatsu) implies tropical or perpetually green planting — palms, broad leaves, ornamental shrubs — of the kind associated with resort-style hotel grounds. Within Oishi's wider practice, the print represents a Joshibi-trained printmaker's turn toward observed urban-leisure environments, distinct from the kacho-e and bijin-ga lineages favored by earlier generations of Japanese women printmakers, and was selected for the 68th CWAJ Print Show in 2025.
