Description
A wooden staircase built of horizontal plank-and-post terraces climbs steeply through a narrow cleft in tan sandstone cliffs, receding to a pink-and-blue gradient sky at the top. Two small nude or near-nude figures stand partway up the steps on the left, dwarfed by the eroded, striated rock walls that rise on either side in shades of ochre, rust, and dark brown. Paul Binnie's 2020 color woodblock print "The Steps at Black's Beach: Sunset" renders the scene in flat, bold color blocks with strong black outlines.
