$2,000–$15,000. Common subjects: $2,000–$4,000. Key value factors: As a living artist continuing the shin-hanga tradition, Binnie's prints are investment-quality. Limited editions and larger formats are most valued.
From the Hundred Shades of Ink series, this print reimagines Harunobu's bathtub scene — one of the most intimate and charming subjects in eighteenth-century [ukiyo-e](/glossary/ukiyo-e) — in the blue-printed aizuri-e style. The bathtub, a humble domestic fixture, becomes in Harunobu's original (and now in Binnie's homage) a site of gentle humor and sensory pleasure. The cool blue ink of the aizuri-e technique transforms the warm, skin-toned original into something crystalline and otherworldly.
