Description

Five irregularly shaped wood fragments are mounted in a horizontal row against a plain white ground: a stepped white block edged in pink, a tall tapering piece with a yellow arc and a red rectangle, a rectangular block split between dark navy and pink with a scalloped edge, a pale carved fragment with a row of black dots and an oval cutout, and a wood panel inscribed with vertical columns of Japanese characters. A faint ruled grid is drawn in the upper left, and two small pink outlined ovals sit below the fragments near a tiny black stamp-like mark in the lower right corner. Paul Furneaux, "Fragments," 2022, mixed media on panel including mokuhanga, wood, stone, pigments, pencil and resin.
