New Growth

New Growth is a mixed media collage on board by Paul Furneaux (year unknown), divided into a wide left panel and a narrower right strip. The left panel shows a mottled green-and-brown textured background with a seated robed figure in the lower left and a small potted tree or plant at center, both rendered as cut-out collage elements against the dark floor band below; the right strip holds a column of Japanese calligraphic characters in black and red beneath a solid yellow star. The palette is dominated by earthy browns and olive greens, with the star providing the only bright accent, giving the piece a muted, layered, assemblage-like quality.
