Description
The Walls of Jericho — the miraculous collapse of the city's walls after the Israelites marched around them for seven days blowing their rams' horn trumpets, as described in Joshua 6 — is one of the Old Testament's most dramatic moments of divine military intervention. Watanabe's katazome rendering of this scene would capture either the moment of the walls' fall or the procession of the Israelite army with its priests and the Ark of the Covenant, the trumpets raised, the city's massive walls about to give way to faith and sound.
