Description
A road stretching forward — perhaps rural, perhaps urban-peripheral — gives Ono a subject that is both literal and metaphorical. Roads carry the eye toward a vanishing point that his flat printing style often refuses to fully render, creating a productive tension between the spatial depth implied by the motif and the surface insistence of the woodblock medium. The untitled Japanese title suggests this may be a work with a known Japanese title not yet fully cataloged.
