A woodblock print exploring the interior, half-conscious territory suggested by its title. Takahashi often chose evocative single-word titles that freed the viewer from literal interpretation, and "Dream" invites a reading of the imagery as something between representation and reverie. The mokuhanga technique, with its soft ink absorption into paper and the visible texture of wood grain, lends itself to the hazy boundaries between waking perception and dreaming. The forms in the composition may hover between recognizable shapes and pure abstraction, mirroring the way dream imagery assembles fragments of the familiar into unfamiliar combinations. Takahashi's color choices and spatial organization work to evoke a psychological state rather than describe a physical place.
