Fragment

Three tall, angular shard-like forms rise diagonally across a mottled green ground, each outlined by a glowing pale-yellow halo and filled with smooth gradients that shift through blue, orange, pink, red, teal, and violet. The shapes bend slightly at their midpoints like bent blades or ribbons of light against the textured green field, giving the composition a sense of upward motion. Takuji Hamanaka's 2021 work "Fragment" is composed of cut and pasted woodblock printed papers mounted on museum board.
