$500–$8,000. Common later works: $500–$1,500. Key value factors: His enormous output (lived to 102) means most works are accessible. Early black-and-white prints are most valued.
The yellow jonquil — Narcissus jonquilla — is rendered in color woodblock from Hiratsuka's early career, the flower's star-shaped yellow blooms and reed-like foliage captured with his direct carving approach. Dating to around 1919, this color floral study belongs to his earliest experiments with color printing, before the architectural documentation that would define his mature output.
Curated cross-cuts that include this print.
Yellow Jonquil was created by Hiratsuka Un'ichi (平塚運一) in 1919.
Yellow Jonquil depicts birds & flowers and still life.
